• Excellent mood among the exhibitors
• Over 42,000 visitors during the five days of the fair
• Top marks for the demonstrations and accompanying programme
• Visitors keen to buy good quality products
• Noticeably broader international scope among visitors to the fair
Over
42,000 visitors came to the 13th International Exhibition for Hunters
and Fishermen, which ran from 28 March to 1 April 2007 at the New
Munich Trade Fair Centre. They came to find out about all the latest
trends and to buy equipment in readiness for the coming hunting and
fishing season. The number of visitors matched the levels achieved in
2005. And among the visitors from outside Germany, the numbers doubled.
Once again there was strong interest from Italy and Austria. Interest
in Jagen und Fischen is also growing among eastern European countries,
shown in the presence of delegations and rising numbers of visitors
from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Romania.
“Hunters
and fishermen make an invaluable contribution to the preservation of
the natural environment in Bavaria. As nature no longer has a
self-regulatory mechanism in the original sense for maintaining a
balance between the different species, the services of hunters and
fishermen in this respect are being called upon more and more. Hunting
and fishing has a responsibility to nature and society. As a result
there is an increase in the number of people who want to find out first
hand about fishing and hunting. In 2007, too, the trade fair Jagen und
Fischen has once again proven to be an attractive platform for hunting
and nature. Interesting displays and demonstrations have turned the
fair into an impressive experience. This is underpinned by the ongoing
success of this fair.” This was how
Bavaria´s Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, Josef Miller, summed up the fair.
“We
are very satisfied with how the fair is developing, in particular with
the clear rise in the number of visitors from abroad. Among the
exhibitors, the mood was excellent, for there was great demand for
high-quality products. The top-quality accompanying programme, too, was
a big attraction, with many people enjoying the numerous displays on
themes like hunting and sports weapons/optics, cooking game and fish
and fly-tying. And, as always, the birds of prey brought along by the
German Falconry Order and the presentation of hunting dogs were
inundated with spectators,” said
Hans-Joachim Heusler, Managing Director of Messe München.
In
the visitor survey 81% of respondents rated Jagen und Fischen as
“excellent” or “good”. Particular praise went to the new section called
Bayern Life. Top marks went to the sections on hunting and hunting dogs
(95% of respondents gave this rating), weapons and accessories (89%),
and clothing and accessories (87%). This positive mood was also
reflected in a willingness to buy: 90% of respondents said they had
bought something at the fair, and 79% said they would be making further
purchases after the fair.
The special display on ‘Hunting and
Sports Weapons / Optics’, at which the key manufacturers of weapons and
optics were represented, was rated by 92% of visitors as “excellent” or
“good”.
The accompanying programme was extremely well received by
the visitors and it achieved superb ratings. Over 96% of visitors gave
the highest rankings to the many diverse demonstrations on the Action
Stage, 95% to the display of birds of prey and over 91% to the
demonstration of game and fish cookery by top chef Alfons Schubeck.
The
announcement of the Hunting Queen ‘Diana 2007’ attracted broad media
interest. The winner is the charming 17-year-old grammar-school student
Barbara Schmid from Kelheim.
The presidents of the two conceptual sponsors of Jagen und Fischen also confirmed this positive response to the event:
Professor Dr Jürgen Vocke, President of the Landesjagdverband Bayern e.V. (Bavarian Hunting Association),
summed up his impressions with the words: “I am very satisfied with how
Jagen und Fischen went, and so, too, was the overwhelming majority of
the visitors. This fair is an important forum for many hunters, indeed
many of them meet colleagues here they have not seen for years. On the
other hand it´s also important for us to have a public platform for the
subject of hunting and to inform the public about the many duties and
responsibilities that hunters have. I would like to see many more
families with children attending the fair, to come and find out all
about hunting and to have fun.” Also highly satisfied was
Alfons Blank, President of the Fischereiverband Oberbayern (Fishing Association of Upper Bavaria):
“We were very happy with the number of visitors. Because it is
important for our association that we put on a presentation here and
thus reach the general public. I would like to give special praise to
the press work for Jagen und Fischen. We have never had so much
attention from the media. The big hit with the reporters was the
subject of ‘Haute Couture from the Fish Factory’. I am pleased that
Jagen and Fischen has helped present this idea to the public.”
This
year a total of 354 exhibitors from 20 countries put on a presentation
at Jagen und Fischen. 65 of those exhibitors came from outside Germany.
The great satisfaction among exhibitors, prompted by the crowds of
visitors, is reflected in their comments on Jagen und Fischen:
Beer Josef, Waffen-Beer:
“Jagen
und Fischen is going from strength to strength. We are very satisfied.
Our stand was full of visitors from morning till evening. In particular
I was pleased to see that many people from Switzerland, Austria, South
Tyrol and the Czech Republic also came along to inquire about
second-hand weapons. Our high-quality clothing ranges, too, went
superbly well. It was once again confirmation for me that good advice
and quality are rewarded. Jagen und Fischen 2007 was an even more
successful event for us than 2005.”
Bonkowski Tino, Autohaus Hartmann: “The
period from midday to about 3 p.m. was the busiest. As a car dealer, we
are restricted to the area around Rosenheim and Traunstein. Yet it was
important for us to be present at Jagen und Fischen. We see our
presence here as mainly about providing information and as an
opportunity to raise our profile. At this fair we reach an important
target group.”
Fuchs Wolfgang, Association of Manufacturers of Hunting and Sports Weapons and Munitions: “All
our members were very pleasantly surprised by the great efforts put
into the press work for Jagen und Fischen in terms of advertising and
PR work. With this in mind I will do all I can to also bring the sports
weapons manufacturers to the fair in 2009. The audience we meet here at
this fair is very knowledgeable. Our manufacturers are very satisfied.
I also thought it was very good that celebrities like star chef Alfons
Schubeck and actor Rolf Schimpf were here. I am delighted that
everything went so well and I am confident that we will be taking an
even bigger joint stand here in 2009.”
Großmann Hans Heinrich, Großmanns:
“For
us Jagen und Fischen went extremely well. We can expect an increase in
sales of around 30% as compared to the event in 2005. That makes us
more than happy. The lectures that I gave here at the stand always
attracted crowds of people. The visitors know and appreciate the fact
that I only sell excellent quality.”
Palvölgyi Zoltan, Forst Hungaria: “We
have been coming to Jagen und Fischen for several years and I can say
that this year it was better than last time. We had more visitors and
lots of interest shown. For us, as the leading Hungarian supplier of
hunting holidays, it is important to be here and to maintain personal
contact with our customers. We are very satisfied.”
Roese Eberhard, Landesfischereiverband (Bavarian Association of Fishermen): “We
had very, very many visitors who came to pick up information from us.
At times we were completely engulfed. We were also able to welcome the
President of the Bulgarian Hunting and Fishing Association to our
stand, and we talked about a future cooperation between the German and
the Bulgarian associations. Jagen und Fischen is always a very
attractive presentation platform for the members.”
Schmid Michael, Auto Schmid:
“We
have been coming to Jagen und Fischen as exhibitors for 25 years. The
number of visitors is very good, although they are not buying so much
as in the early years. Nevertheless the level of interest is high and
we had some good talks. I see our presence here as a way of initiating
new business and raising our profile. Overall taking part in Jagen und
Fischen is worthwhile for us, because here we can meet our target
group.”
Weinbauer Erwin, vintner: “The
quality of the visitors we talked to was good, even though they held
back somewhat when it came to the more expensive items. I like the new
section called Bayern Life, and would like to see it expanded in 2009.
That makes the fair even livelier.”
