Record attendance: The JAGEN UND FISCHEN Trade Show broke the 35,000 attendance level for the first time. The further enhanced AUGSBOW concept was also a resounding success
Augsburg, 20.01.2019 355 exhibitors from 18 countries and more than 35,000 satisfied visitors attended the 22nd JAGEN UND FISCHEN Trade Show where they were to successfully start the new season. This was the best attendance at the industry trade show to date. The AUGSBOW Archery Fair, which was held at the weekend in conjunction with the JAGEN UND FISCHEN Trade Show, finished with very positive results. The influx of exhibitors and visitors to the themed halls had never been so great. Southern Germany's leading trade show for hunters, anglers, amateur, field and professional archers and outdoor enthusiasts took place from 17 to 20 January at Messe Augsburg Exhibition Centre, presenting high-quality product innovations and inspiring visitors with an extensive supporting programme for the young and old. Hubert Aiwanger, Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, who himself has a hunting licence, opened the trade show on the Thursday morning.
The special shows presented by the partners and associations have traditionally been an integral part of the supporting programme. Augsburg Hunting Association presented a diorama rich in species, a showcase that presented “the forest in its four seasons”, designed specifically for the many young visitors. Hans Fürst, the 1st chairman of Augsburg Hunting Association was pleased to see the avid interest in the protection of the forest and the work of his association. There were many exciting display tanks with unknown indigenous species of fish to discover at the special show for anglers. The Wertach Vital II project, which focused on flood protection and aquatic ecology in the region, was also presented at the many information stands in addition to actions aimed at protecting water quality in line with this year's leading theme, “Protection of the aquatic habitat”.
The first joint female hunters’ and anglers’ meet-up, the popular casting tournament for skilful fishing enthusiasts, fashion shows, the popular kitchen shows presented by chefs cooking game and fish, the themed worlds of fly fishing, salute shooting and hunting horn clubs as well as top-class expert lectures in the Fishing Forum provided a huge variety of varied programme items. The animals have traditionally been a magnet for visitors: 50 hunting dog breeds and strains were on display and showed their talents in the hunting dog presentations in hall 4; the different birds of prey fascinated visitors with their flight manoeuvres in the outdoor area. When they appeared, there was hardly any free space for spectators indoors and outdoors.
Gerhard Reiter, Managing Director of Messe Augsburg, explains the JAGEN UND FISCHEN Trade Show's formula for success: “We offer a unique mix of information, experiences and many programme highlights to join in with and try out. The combination of a wide range of exhibitors and the special atmosphere of the trade show provided an exceptional experience for visitors and exhibitors at the trade show.
Visitors witnessed sporting highlights on the last two days of the trade show. At the invitation of the Bavarian Field Archery Association, the AUGSBOW Archery Fair was the venue for the Bavarian Archery Championships for the first time. Around 500 professional archers competed against each other in the tournaments, under the best competition conditions, in the disciplines of recurve, blank and compound bow, in order to bring home the title. Sabine Sauter achieved a sensational 593 rings in the women's compound competition - so this secured her the championship title and the new German record. Many shooting sport outfitters and archery equipment suppliers also provided information about their range of products. The team from Augsburg Association for Riflemen and Traditional Saluting Guns (Schützengau Augsburg) presented the diversity of the shooting sport in hall 4. Light guns and pistols were on offer as well as shooting with air guns or blowpipes. The show cup for air rifles and air pistols complemented the attractions for the shooting community.
