The impressive return of JAGEN UND FISCHEN: the traditional start of the season delighted visitors and exhibitors alike

Tradition meets modernity – this was the motto for the whole weekend in Augsburg. Around 25,000 visitors came to the Messezentrum from Friday to Sunday for some fabulous experiences at JAGEN UND FISCHEN with its 300 exhibitors. The emphasis here was shopping and thrills for young and old.

The Messe Augsburg again lived up to all expectations in great style with the new and inspiring layout of JAGEN UND FISCHEN. Updated, fresher and more modern: visitors and exhibitors experienced this for themselves this weekend in three packed exhibition halls. Southern Germany's most successful industry trade fair for hunters, fishermen, nature and outdoor enthusiasts was also an international hit: 17 countries were represented among the exhibitors, with international participation at 15%. Visitors from abroad, mainly from Austria and Switzerland, also made the journey to JAGEN UND FISCHEN. Cross-border cooperation is a trademark of JAGEN UND FISCHEN and, in 2023, the fishing associations of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg jointly organized the "2nd Süddeutschen Hallenmeisterschaft im Castingsport” casting competition in the exhibition halls. The next JAGEN UND FISCHEN will take place from January 12 to 14, 2024.

Lorenz A. Rau, CEO of Messe Augsburg was thrilled: “2023 marked the 10th year we have celebrated our traditional kick-off to the trade fair season with JAGEN UND FISCHEN - and it was a great success! Visitors were able to enjoy the more compact design, new experience worlds and the numerous other highlights; the whole package had a strong appeal.”

What the exhibitors say:

Blaser Group, Hesham Khalifa, Head of Live Communications:
“We’re extremely satisfied. JAGEN UND FISCHEN is not only well attended, but you can feel that the visitors are eager to be back at the trade fair. The decision to hold this event over three days was exactly right and professionally implemented.”

Carl Zeiss, Jochen Pohl, Sales:
"JAGEN UND FISCHEN is extremely well attended, and many more people have come than we expected; the level of interest from visitors is very high. Despite the break due to the pandemic, we even decided to enlarge our stand, which was the perfect move. You’ll be seeing us again next year!”

Jägervereinigung Augsburg, Hans Fürst, Chairman:
“We brought a piece of the riparian forest into the exhibition halls to show a sample of the Augsburg biotope. We wanted to use it to show visitors the values that exist in our environment and how much we hunters care for these values. We succeeded in our aim, and the response has been amazing. The many visitors were also fascinated by the various traditional crafts we show here.”

District of Swabia, Dr Oliver Born, Head of Fisheries Advisory Service:
"We’re extremely pleased, the fair has been a huge success for us. Our stand has been constantly busy, and visitors are fascinated by what we have on offer - a particular highlight has been the 40 or so different species of fish and crabs we showed in the aquariums.”

Fischereiverband Schwaben e. V. fishing association, Ulrich Krafczyk, CEO: "We were so glad to see the return of the trade fair at last - and so are the visitors, that much has been very clear! Our theme, fish as food, has been enthusiastically received: both the recipes and demonstrations in the show kitchen.”

Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e. V., hunting dog association, Sophia Wörle, Deputy Chair:
"We’re delighted to finally be back again to meet many old friends. JAGEN UND FISCHEN provides the optimal setting for our unique hunting dog demonstrations with around 50 different breeds."
